Which is a pain in the butt!
New units are still available in the $150 range, which isn’t terrible... but it’ll have to wait. After just spending too much on Jag parts AND new tires for the Land Rover, I can’t exactly justify spending more on a car that I’m not really driving right now.
Maybe next month.

Leaking gas? Project Dumpster Fire’s name may become quite accurate...

I guess I don’t have the monopoly on Swedish cars that leak fuel anymore! T he accumulator’s a little annoying to replace but it’s not too bad. Hardest part for me was getting the alignment of the tubes right.

So instead of being an accumulator, it has become a fuel dissipator

My dad’s XC70's fuel filter rusted through this fall. I had smelled gas when I was over there, but then next time I was over he had just gotten back from the store and it was really gushing. Drove it to the shop right away, but honestly I wonder if we should have gotten a tow to reduce the risk of fuel spilling on hot exhaust (I guess it’s not any better if it spills on the tow truck’s hot exhaust...

Haha it has had a fuel leak pretty much the entirety of my 2nd ownership. This car just loves to leak fuel.

Don’t have much experience with these, but $150 a pop makes me wonde r how “universal ” a fuel accumulator could be. Seems like the important factors would be the pressure it’s rated for, and the fittings (a potential hurdle that could be solved with some adapters .

My Jaguar has had fuel leaks come and go. Hasn’t burned yet.

Haha I didn’t say “universal” so much as they were fitted to a lot of cars. The Mercedes ones look the most similar, but apparent compatibility appears to vary wildly, with some of them even only having one connection whereas others seem to have multiple components haha. I’m going to pester my Volvo contacts to see if they’ve got any around that I can get on the cheap.

But seriously I forget how many manufactures used CIS. According to Wikipedia: Porsche, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Lotus, Ferrari, Nissan, Peugeot, Renault, Volvo, Saab, TVR and Ford.

Oh I know you didn’t say universal; I wasn’t quoting you, but using the quotation marks to express my doubts about being able to pick any random accumulator and expect it to work right . Just thinking out loud as to what other alternatives might work. I suppose $150 is somewhat manageable for a direct-fit part, but thinking about how it’s little more than a spring and a diaphragm in a can (oversimplifying a little), makes me cringe.
